The Northeast Iowa Artist Studio Tour is a special opportunity to visit artists' homes and studios for an intimate look at their work and their creative space while also experiencing the area's small communities, local fare and rural scenery. Take the time to meet the artists themselves, watch demonstrations of their craft and shop for unique and personal gifts. Zip around the city spots or slow down with a cup of green tea at Waterloo Workshop. For many of these artists, this is the one time of year their work is displayed for sale. Each artist is different, but they all share a passion for imagination and each one welcomes their guests with gusto.
What makes this tour so enjoyable is the diversity of art, the "do-it-yourself" schedule, and the warm exchanges between strangers. With so many people out and about, this tour is really a marvelous dance: a stop in here, a stop in there, and some hot apple cider in between. The detailed event map, a grown-up's treasure map, can guide you around the Decorah area.
Mark your calendars for this October event! Visit www.iowaarttour.com for dates, times, access to a map and information of the participating artists.
