Featuring a vast array of artifacts, exhibits, and history unique to Howard County, many of the displays are 'one-of-a-kind items. The main room reflects the rich agricultural heritage and includes big and small equipment as well as feature stories on items created and manufactured right here in Howard County. Individuals featured at the museum include Dr. Norman Borlaug, Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Cresco's Five Admirals, Ellen Church, the world's first stewardess, and Dr. George Kessel.
The Historical Society was established in 1927 and works to preserve artifacts of this area as well as record the history of its people. The museum is open anytime by appointment; 563.547.3434 and is open every day during Fair week; the third full week in June.
